Overview:
Housed in a prime piece
of real estate that's hosted some real bowsers in the past Aubergine has
style to burn and substance to back it up.
The decor is confident, yet understated -- a good match for
the black Calvin Klein uniforms worn by the staff. One end
of the dining room is anchored by a sophisticated bar lined
with urns of fruit-infused vodkas and Champagne on ice.
Outdoors, a sidewalk patio offers prime crowd-watching;
inside the multilevel dining room, the lighting is soft and
flattering; the tables well-spaced.
And the fare gracing those tables is stylish as well. This
jet-setting collection of flavors from Asia, Europe and the
Caribbean tends to be a credit to chef/owner Matthew Parker,
whose eclectic career includes stops in Australia, London
and Brunei.
