Overview:
What makes this such a
great beach? Proximity to the splendor of the Hotel Del,
consistently well-behaved crowds and plenty of room to
spread out your blanket. Families arrive here early in the
morning toting umbrellas, sand toys, sunscreen, beach
towels, picnic coolers and more, and stay all day.
Volleyball setups are anchored on the street side of the
beach near the lifeguard station -- bring your own nets and
balls. The beach is wide enough for impromptu football
games, paddleball and massive sand castle building. Kite
flying is allowed south of the rock jetty only. Swimming and
Boogie boards are big on the central beach area; surfers
stay closer to the north end, especially in the morning.
There are tidepools in front of the Hotel Del.
