Overview:
This restaurant has a
classic East Coast, even European feel. The place is large,
but each room feels intimate: Diners can choose among two
sidewalk terraces, a courtyard, the formal dining room or
the cozy bar, which has a fireplace and live piano music.
Jackets aren't required, but
this is not a place for shorts or sandals. La Jollans flock
here for truffles in the fall, when they're flown in from
Italy and placed lovingly on the menu with great pomp. Other
favorites include a risotto with arugula and champagne,
filet of beef in a Barolo wine sauce, fresh Dover sole and
quail-stuffed ravioli with shiitake mushroom sauce. The wine
list is heavy on Italian reds and whites.
